Hebron Baseball’s 2015 Board Elections and
Annual Meeting Set for December 9th

On the heels of hosting a successful 2015 Cal Ripken U9 New England Baseball Championship, Hebron Baseball will hold its 2015 Annual Meeting on December 9th, at Blackledge River Tavern at 7:30 p.m.  As part of this meeting, there will be elections for positions on the 2016 Hebron Baseball Board of Directors, a progress update centered on the Hebron Baseball 2016-2018 Strategic Plan and discussion regarding Hebron Baseball’s tournament teams, their selection process and other possible alternatives for future tournament teams.

Hebron Baseball encourages all members of the community interested in assisting youth baseball in Hebron & Andover to attend this meeting. In addition to open Board positions, there are also several openings for non-board positions in areas such as field maintenance and fund raising. If you'd like to help out on a lesser extent, there will also be many other roles which will need volunteers throughout the season.

The Hebron Baseball Board of Directors holds open elections each year for its board positions, including those that have a returning volunteer currently seated. For the upcoming year, the following positions are up for election with a current volunteer seeking re-election:

Equipment Director
Player/Coach Agent
Public Relations/Safety Director
Cal Ripken Baseball & Tournament Director

The following positions are up for election and are currently vacant:

 Fundraising Director
 Field Maintenance Director
 Concessions Director

If you are interested in submitting your name for an open Board position or running for a position which is currently being served, you must submit your name electronically or in writing to Jim Truscinski (jtruscinski@carouselindustries.com) no later than 12/6/15 to be considered. Nominations will not be accepted at the Annual Meeting.

Steve Emt - USA Wheelchair Curling

If any of you attended the Opening Night festivities for the Cal Ripken 9U New England Regionals at Burnt Hill park in August, you were fortunate to hear our own Steve Emt speak to all of the players and teams that were here in Hebron for the week. Even though the event was several months ago, we're still receiving compliments about what a powerful and inspirational message Steve shared with the young athletes and coaches on that night. Because Steve has proven himself to be such a good friend of all of the youth in our town, we wanted to share the attached with our Hebron Baseball family:

Steve Emt

USA Wheelchair Curling

Steve Emt has been an athlete his entire life. In high school he lettered in three different sports, finishing his high school career as an All-New England soccer goalkeeper and an All-State basketball player. He is the all-time leading scorer in the history of his high school for boys’ basketball, and his abilities brought him to the University of Connecticut where he earned a spot on the men’s basketball team as a walk-on from 1992-1994.

Things changed for Steve in 1995 when he was involved in a car accident which left him paralyzed. In the years following the accident, he went back to school to earn his teaching certificate and is currently a middle school math teacher and coached high school boys’ basketball for twenty years.

After trying many different wheelchair sports, including racing in the 2010 New York City Marathon, Steve was introduced to the sport of wheelchair curling in the summer of 2012. In the years since, he has progressed up the ranks, and was eventually chosen for the 2015 World Team. Steve is currently the vice-skip on Team USA and is hopeful of earning a spot on the 2018 Paralympic Team which will compete in South Korea.

Steve is also an accomplished motivational speaker. He shares his story of overcoming life’s challenges, achieving his dreams on and off the ice while inspiring others to achieve their dreams in the face of adversity, and his journey to compete on the world’s stage.
